Brass Monkey Run and Track DayJohn and Penny on the Track

Our social committee organised a weekend run and track day down to Stanthorpe. The first day consisted of a convoy of cars from near Willowbank down to our accommodation in Stanthorpe, where we boarded a coach to tour the local wineries. After lunch at the first winery, detours to check out rusting old cars in paddocks, we notched up 4 tastings at different wineries. Dinner was back at the motel with a side serving of excellent bush poetry and yet another wine tasting. The following day saw group and a few ring-ins at the little known track at Cornell Park, Stanthorpe. We had sole use of the great little track for the full day, but everyone had their fill by lunch time.

Xmas in JulyCarolyn thanking Santa for her present

On the weekend, the club had a very social run with a morning start from Alderley, then via Mt Glorious and White Cedar Park for Morning tea, a quick stop over in Kilcoy and then a short blast up the range to Maleny for a July Xmas lunch by the fireplace and a magnificent view of the glass house mountains. We even had a real Santa Claus visit us to distribute the Secret Santa presents the club members brought.

July Meeting held at TyretechLCQ Meeting at Tyretech

The July meeting was held at a different venue than normal, Tyretech at 149 Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills. The club learned a lot about the black circular rubber stuff. This was one of the longest running meetings for a while because club members had a lot of questions to ask the guys from Tyretech and Yokohama.

June MeetingMembers examining Elise parts up for auction

A number of lotus cars were present at the meeting, and an auction of some donated Lotus Elise cast offs were the highlight of the meeting. Patrick's imminent wedding, his Goodwood/Lotus Factory honeymoon were talk of the meeting.

Morgan Park Sprints - Series 'B' Round 2Lotuses at Morgan Park

This round of the Sprints at Warwick saw seven cars from the club competing. Two of which had never ventured on to this track before. Fastest Run out of the Lotuses went to Derek just pipping John by 9/100th's of a second.  John and Tom came 1st and 3rd respectively in their class and David also took out 1st in his class. The only drama of the weekend was Mike's Elan +2 letting go at the oil filter seal whilst on the back straight, a quick trip to Repco saw his car back on track in time for the next run. The merry Lotus Widows organised themselves a sojourn to a nearby historic house and a local Farmers Market.

Tour de Sheds - Centenary Style4 Cyl Bugatti Coffee Machine

It was a great day for a drive, and even better day to inspect four very impressive sheds with equally excellent cars inside. We rounded out the day with a BBQ dinner at ex-President Craig Wilson's house.

Macleans BridgeMile accepting his trophy from Patrick

Its Mothers Day again and that means one thing, the annual sports car show at Macleans Bridge. This year was threatened by rain and poor conditions, but the day turned out quite well. The club held its inaugural concourse at the event, the winners were Mile for his Caterham 7, and Brays for their Elan Coupe.

Lotus 2005Elite at Wakefield Park

A large contingent of Queensland members headed down to Bowral, NSW this easter to attend the biennial national Lotus meeting, Lotus 2005. Some of use drove down, some had their cars shipped down. Regardless of the method, we all had a great time. The track day was held at Wakefield Park, and the concourse and other functions were held at Craigieburn in Bowral.

February MeetingSilver Elise S2

With over 15 Lotus cars present, February was quite a large meeting. Weiber had a run-out sale on the old style club polo shirts. They were snapped up in seconds. We were reminded that the next meeting is the club's AGM, so it is time to renew your membership and think about helping out by volunteering for a position within the club.

January Informal MeetingClub members having dinner

Mike and Maggie put on a wonderful BBQ for an informal get-together at their place. Guy Stevens, LCV President and his wife Kerri were up holidaying from Victoria. Unfortunately they brought the Melbourne weather with them.

End of Year Break-Up and Sausage SizzleLCQ members talking about cars

Is it the end of the year already? That only means one thing, beers and a sausage sizzle. Lots of catching up with friends and discussing what we should do next year. Plenty of gossip on Qld racing tracks and other clubs. We even had a few new cars and a rarely seen Lotus Eclat showed up to bid farewell to the year. Good luck to all and have a happy holidays. See you all again next year.
